Workshop Practices

Every Job Is Documented

Written diagnosis and a part-by-part service note accompany every watch, regardless of scope.

Witschi Timing Equipment

Rate measurements are taken on a witschi timing machine in multiple positions. Numbers, not estimates.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

All movement parts pass through ultrasonic cleaning before fresh period-correct lubricants are applied.

Inspection Fee Applied

The bench diagnosis fee is credited in full against any subsequent service. The report is yours either way.

Customer Decides Scope

No work proceeds beyond diagnosis without written customer approval. Each stage is your decision to make.

Specialist Dial Partner

Dial restoration involves a long-established specialist. The relationship and the process are disclosed upfront.

§ 04 — Contact

A bench slot starts with a written enquiry.

Send the calibre reference, a brief description of the fault, and a preferred drop-off date. The workshop responds within one business day.

§ 05 — FAQ

Common Bench Enquiries

What movements does the workshop service? +

The standard complete service covers automatic three-hand calibres without complications — time-only movements with a date wheel are included. Movements with additional complications (chronographs, perpetual calendars, alarms) are assessed during bench diagnosis and quoted individually. The witschi machine covers most standard calibres.

How long does a complete service take? +

A bench diagnosis with written report is usually completed within five to seven working days. A complete movement service runs four to six weeks depending on parts availability. Dial restoration timelines vary with the specialist's current workload and are confirmed in writing before work commences.

Do I need to bring the watch in person? +

Walk-in during workshop hours is the standard arrangement. The initial intake includes a brief visual inspection at the counter before the formal bench assessment begins. If you are travelling from outside Penang, contact the workshop beforehand to arrange a scheduled appointment.

What happens to the inspection fee if I decline further work? +

The diagnosis fee of RM 750 is payable regardless of whether further work proceeds. If the customer elects to continue with a complete service or dial work, the full RM 750 is credited against that invoice. The written report and photographs belong to the customer in either case.

How is dial restoration priced? +

The RM 4,280 covers the full restoration path including off-site specialist work. If the customer selects reversible stabilisation only, a revised quote is issued reflecting actual scope. Leaving the dial as-is carries no additional charge beyond the initial diagnosis. All pricing is written and confirmed before any work commences.

Which brands does the workshop accept? +

The workshop accepts most Swiss and Japanese mechanical calibres. Movements from well-documented brands with available technical data are preferred. Rare or undocumented movements are assessed on a case-by-case basis during bench diagnosis. Send the calibre reference with your initial enquiry and the workshop will confirm suitability.
